Khoảng tháng Hai năm 2010, Vancouver Canada Có một biến cố mang tầm vóc Quốc Tế
Đó là Thế Vận Hội Mùa Đông 2010 Tại Vanccouver
Cộng Đồng Người Việt Tỵ Nạn CS tại Vancouver đã chuẩn bị kỹ càng để cùng với Người Dân Canada chào đón Thế Vận Hội Mùa Đông bằng một rừng Cờ Vàng. Cờ Vàng đã xuất hiện tại rất nhiều địa điểm quan trọng của Thành Phố, nơi Ngọn Quốc Thế Vận Được Rước Từ Đại Tây Dương qua Thái Bình Dương và đi vào Thành Phố Vancouver. Tại Địa Điểm Vancouver City Hall, Rừng Cờ Vàng đã là hình ảnh nổi bật nhất. Hình ảnh này đã được một Đài Truyền Hình của Đức thâu vào ống kính và công chiếu.
Sự thành công trong Vinh Danh Chính Nghĩa Cờ Vàng đã gây xúc động nhiều người và Nhà Thơ Lê Khắc Anh Hào đã thể hiện niềm xúc động đó qua Bài Thơ: Cờ Vàng Vancouver và hầu như ngay lập tức Lạc Việt đã phổ nhạc bài thơ dưới Tên: Cờ Vàng Thế Vận Vancouver.
Ngay năm sau 2011, với sự vận động ráo riết của tập thể Người Việt Tỵ Nạn, Nghị Quyết của Vancouver City đã công nhận đặt tên Little Saigon Vancouver cho khu vực thương mại có đông Người Việt trên Đường Kingsway khúc đường từ Windsor St đến Knight St.
Tại Vancouver City, trong buổi Thảo Luận & Biểu Quyết, Bản Nhạc Cờ Vàng Thế Vận Vancouver đã được hát một đoạn: Em Mơ Saigon Vancouver - My Dream Little Saigon Vancouver Be Coming True Today và đã đóng góp một phần quan trọng trong tiến trình Thảo Luận & Biểu Quyết của Hội Đồng Thành Phố Vancouver, và tỷ lệ đó thật trang trọng 100% Nghị Viên Vote chấp thuận.
Thơ và Nhạc Cờ Vàng Thế Vận Vancouver sau này được thay đổi ít lời cho phù hợp hoàn cảnh và lấy tên: Cờ Vàng Lễ Hội Vancouver và gần như là Thông Điệp chính của Cộng Đồng Người Việt tại Vancouver trong nghĩa vụ: Vinh Danh Cờ Vàng - Cờ Chính Nghĩa Dân Tộc.

A Message to the Members of Vancouver City Council
With Regards To “Little Saigon Vancouver” at Kingsway Business Area

Dear Mr. Robertson, Mayor and all councilors of the City of Vancouver,
Dear Sirs & Madams
I am Binh Tran, president of The Vietnamese Cultural Activities Society. I would like, here, to express my petition and my deep sentiment of thanks to you in this solemn to our community event " That’s the Council’s vote to name “Little Saigon-Vancouver” a part of Kingsway Business Area.
In 1954, my parents escaped the communist regime from North to South Vietnam and at that time, I was 5 years old.
In 1980, After South Vietnam collapsed on April 30th,1975, I escaped the communist regime once more
to the Southeast Asian Sea, called Bien Dong in Vietnamese, becoming one of 2 million Boat People in the 80’s decade.
From 1979, with the 4000 Project at Ottawa, The Canadian Government and Canadians have opened their hearts to accept Vietnamese refugees I, myself and hundred of thousand Vietnamese refugees we have been in Canada since and have established the present large Vietnamese Canadian community. We don’t know how to say thanks enough for that humane gesture.
Most Vietnamese refugees learned, worked, and adapted fast to Canadian society, and they try their best to work by labor, mind and heart to thank and give back to Canadian society.
Dear Sirs & Madams,
Right after landing on Canadian soil, I was so surprised how many ethnic communities live together peacefully in Canada. I have since learned more about multiculturalism, an important part of Canadian legacy. For more than 10 continuous years that followed, the Vietnamese Cultural Activities Society had participated in Canada Day at BC Place, at PNE; at MultiCulture Festival and have participated annually in Lunar New Year and the Children’s Full Moon Festival as well.
One more thing, the last but the important to Vietnamese Refugees, when we landed in Canada we brought nothing, or to be exact, we had nothing to bring except the Freedom in our hearts -- The Freedom, nobody can see it except its symbol. Our Freedom symbol becoming the Heritage is the name of Saigon and the Yellow Flag as you commonly see in all our festivals and ceremonies.
Today, I myself and most Vietnamese people in Metro Vancouver, In Canada and all over the world, we are waiting for the Great Event with their thumping hearth: The Vancouver City Council’s Resolution on the naming “Little Saigon-Vancouver”.
I knew in 1979, the Canadian government was already opening its heart to accept Vietnamese refugees.
And now, in 2011, I hope Vancouver City opens its heart to accept the name of a symbol of Freedom, “Little Saigon Vancouver” for Kingsway Business Area.
Last year, at the Winter Olympic Games, the big successful event of the Vancouver City and of British Columbia, the Vietnamese community participated in the celebration of that event. One of my friend had written a poem and based on that, I wrote down a song. Here are the few of those verses:
What do you see at Vancouver Winter Game,
I see the Yellow Flag waving in the wind
I see the Yellow Flag waving in the wind
Waving through a poetic sky
I feel warm like Saigon, In Spring
I feel warm like Saigon, In Spring
Even now Vancouver, In winter
I fall in dream: Saigon-Vancouver
And now I will sing that words in Vietnamese
